2013 – In thinking over the year that was, I noticed that 2013 had been nothing short of remarkable. A year choc full of travel with a change of vocation and a change of location sprinkled in to make things interesting.
To document an extraordinary year I first must tell a story: Christmas 2012; visiting friends who would shortly move to Hawaii from Nebraska (could there be a more different change of scenery?) I was gifted a practical, yet interesting present; a furry hat with earflaps – children’s size large. I don’t take many photos and rarely do I indulge in selfies, but to squeeze every ounce of entertainment out of this hat became my new goal. This hat, I decided, would define my 2013. This hat would be my calling card, I would take it everywhere to celebrate my travels. I believe that we make our own destinies, but this hat seemed more than fortuitous. One year later I would be starting this blog and would have several photos to share. Serendipity at it’s best.
So where did my hat take me?
Sweet hat! Are you holding a mailbox?
I am, in fact, holding a mailbox. The mailbox is protecting the register (or log). When you get to the top of a mountain often times people will sign the log to mark the achievement. I’ve also seen people taking ironing boards up mountains. Extreme ironing: http://aol.it/19p77dd
